speak up and have passion

December 4, 2022

At work, people are always telling me to speak up. When I'm not speaking up, they tell me that I need to speak up more. But what they don't know is that there's a lot of things going on in my head when I want to be heard but don't say anything out loud. There's anxiety about how others will judge me for speaking up, and sometimes even fear of how my words will be received by others if I try and explain what I'm thinking or feeling. There's also the fact that other people might actually disagree with what you're saying and then things get awkward fast—and then there's this whole thing about how successful women can be perceived as assertive when they're just being who they are (i.e., assertive). Because of all these reasons combined together—the fear of being judged, fear of disagreement with others' views because they're important people at work (or at home), etc.—I've decided: Enough is enough! No more staying silent. It's time for us all to start speaking up when something needs to be said, regardless of our fears or anxieties about it!

Enthusiasm is contagious

Enthusiasm is contagious and a great way to get people interested in what you have to say. It's a great way to get people interested in what you have to say.

A smile, laugh or intonation can easily turn an average conversation into a memorable one that leaves others wanting more.

When you're passionate about something, your facial expressions will show it, which will help your audience connect with your message better than if they weren't feeling any emotion at all.

Speak up and have passion

You might be a little shy. That's okay.

You might not have much to say. That's okay too!

You may think what you have to say is boring or stupid, but I guarantee someone wants to hear it! It doesn't matter how quiet you are, or how short your answer is (even if you only respond with "yeah" or "mmhmm"). The real work happens when we listen and interact with one another during class discussions and group projects. Your voice matters! Speak up!

Don't be afraid to talk about what you feel passionate about

You’re passionate about a lot of things. Don’t be afraid to talk about them with others. This is a great way to get people interested in what you do, and it can even help you meet new friends.

You might not always be right, but that doesn’t mean your ideas shouldn't be heard. The best way to learn something is by talking about it and trying different approaches until something works out!

Don't worry if people don't understand your passion or don't agree with what you have to say; it's important for everyone (even adults) to feel safe talking about their interests or beliefs without feeling judged by other people around them.

Be interested in others

You can talk to anyone.

  • Listen to what people are saying, and ask questions.

  • Don’t interrupt them or be afraid to ask questions.

  • Don’t be afraid to talk about your interests, either!

You can motivate yourself without being mean to yourself.

You can motivate yourself without being mean to yourself.

Everyone knows that if you're feeling down, it's important to be positive and refocus your energy on the things you enjoy. But sometimes our brains can't help but fixate on negative thoughts—we may even beat ourselves up over them! If this is something that happens to you, try these tips:

  • Think of all the good things you have done, or will do in the future.

  • Think of how much better your life could be if only you had more confidence and motivation.

  • Focus on what's good about yourself instead of dwelling on all those things that aren't working out quite yet (they might eventually!).

Conclusion

Whether you're trying to motivate yourself or others, enthusiasm is contagious. You don't have to be a cheerleader or a motivational speaker; just speak up and have passion.

Did you know that most people who appear confident, don't actually really feel that way? Many famous actors, musicians and stand-up comics will tell you how incredibly nervous they feel before they go on stage to perform.
