lack of a home phone.

When I first started using the Internet, I was amazed by how much information could be accessed via a computer. But after a while, I began to feel as though this amazing resource was somewhat lacking in some ways. For example, when trying to sign up for various things online or even just trying to access certain websites and services, it became increasingly apparent that one thing stood between me and my goal: lack of a home phone.

This is I have to say definitely NOT the case as I soon came to discover, at least not anytime in the near future anyway. In fact the more time I spent on the net trying to access or sign up for various things I was interested in, the more I found myself unable to, purely through lack of a home phone.

I soon came to realize that without a home phone, I would be unable to access or sign up for many things. I was also unable to get good deals on purchases and some websites would not let me even make a purchase unless I had one. Some sites wouldn't even let you do anything until you have signed up with an email address and password, which is then linked to your phone number so that they can call you back if necessary.

I'm sure there are people who don't use their mobile phones for much and maybe an emergency landline is all they need but at least for me this was definitely NOT the case as I soon came to discover, at least not anytime in the near future anyway. You see most things you try to do on the Internet these days will require you to enter a mobile number or preferably a landline, and without one you tend to be excluded from quite a few offers which are actually quite beneficial, such as getting good deals on purchases for instance.

As you might have noticed, most things you try to do on the Internet these days will require you to enter a mobile number or preferably a landline, and without one you tend to be excluded from quite a few offers which are actually quite beneficial, such as getting good deals on purchases for instance.

If this is something that interests you then we recommend looking into things like Groupon and Living Social where there are plenty of discounted items being offered up. The good thing about these sites is that they offer more than just food coupons, so if it is just money off your next purchase in mind then they also have some great offers which can save time as well as money!

One such thing I experienced early on in my quest to make better use of this wonderful technology was my attempt to sign up for an online dating site. It had seemed like a very good idea at the time, as it was free and would allow me access to potential partners from all over the world.

But when I tried signing up, I received a message informing me that it would cost $20 a month if I wanted to continue using their services. Not only did this seem like an exorbitant amount of money but also it made me feel left out because many other people were able to get started without paying anything upfront.

You need a phone number if you want to get into stuff online.

You need a phone number if you want to get into stuff online.

You can’t sign up for things without a phone number. You can’t use most of your favorite apps or services without signing up, which usually requires entering your phone number as part of the process. Even if there are no fees involved, a lot of these companies will sell your data, so why not just give out your real number?

Conclusion

So there you have it, the reason why I think we should all be thankful for having a home phone and not just rely on our mobiles or tablets. I can't tell you how important this is to me now, but hopefully by sharing my experience with others we can all learn something from it!
