But after a while, I began to feel as though this amazing resource was somewhat lacking in some ways. I was also unable to get good deals on purchases and some websites would not let me even make a purchase unless I had one. Some sites wouldn't even let you do anything until you have signed up with an email address and password, which is then linked to your phone number so that they can call you back if necessary.

I'm sure there are people who don't use their mobile phones for much and maybe an emergency landline is all they need but at least for me this was definitely NOT the case as I soon came to discover, at least not anytime in the near future anyway.
