I thought about how many time’s a day I use my phone

I think we all know how much technology has changed since the birth of the mobile phone. I remember when my first mobile phone was released in 1987 it was the size of a brick and cost £2,000 to buy one, although that is not including any calls made on it as they were extra!

Nowadays however there are so many options available to us as consumers that make our lives easier then ever before. For example take landlines for instance; they used to be a necessity until people started moving away from them in favor of mobiles or dongles etcetera. However recently I have found myself wondering if land lines are going out of fashion like VCR's did when DVD’s came along because now everything can be done via your mobile phone without having an expensive home connection at all!

If you are like me you have not had a fixed line for years now and have managed just fine using only your mobile and public telephone’s to communicate with people. I also recently invested in a dongle and now have the use of the Internet without any home connection what so ever and for a while it suited me just fine. This lead me to wonder if land lines were soon to become as obsolete as the VCR has become since the birth of the DVD.

I am sure you have heard of the term ‘mobile phone’ before, but what about the word ‘dongle?’ A dongle is basically an adapter that allows you to connect to a network via your mobile phone. For example, if we wanted to access our home wifi network but we did not have any form of computer at our house, all we would need is a dongle and then it would work just like any other WiFi connection!

It sounds great right? Well it is even better because if you do have a smart TV (many do nowadays), then this will also allow you access to unlimited content on demand without paying any extra costs. The main benefit though comes with cost savings; almost all companies offer unlimited data packages which means no more worrying about going over your monthly limit or having those hefty fines imposed when they do happen!

I thought about how many time’s a day I use my phone, either to make a call or receive one. I then thought about how many time’s I actually find myself in a position where it would be impossible to make or receive one without having my phone with me, as an example I can’t remember the last time I was in such a position, well not since before September 15th 2008, when my youngest daughter was born.

Conclusion

In conclusion I think that we may have reached a point where the land line telephone is no longer relevant to our lives and will soon become obsolete. It took my family 10 years before we finally made the decision to change from having a fixed line to using only mobile phones, but now most people I know do not even own one let alone use them ever day.
